From the Desk of the Worthy Grand Matron:

Dear Sisters and Brothers,

July was a busy month for us.  August will also be busy with the continued Official Visits and Texas Grand Chapter. Fifty-Eight Eastern Stars represented Louisiana at the RIDE THE RIO Eight-State Friendship Exchange in San Antonio, TX.  We were treated like royalty by our Texas counterparts.  We enjoyed the delicious food, sights and boat rides on the famous River Walk.  One of the most beautiful sights was looking out at all the members from the various states visiting with each other at the banquet.

Please remember Dr. Rob Morris, founder of the Order of the Eastern Star, this month.  He was born August 31, 1818.  As we honor this great man, let us think of the sacrifices he made and the many hours he spent creating an Order dedicated to Charity, Truth and Loving Kindness.

The Deputy Visits and the Schools of Instructions have been completed.  Many positive comments and compliments have been shared on the proficient manner in which these were conducted.  Congratulations on jobs well done.

Information Moment:  When applying for plural membership, a Petition for Plural Membership must be completed and therein a member must list all chapters’ names, numbers, and locations to which she/he belongs.  Certificates of Good Standing from ALL chapters must be attached.   A male petitioner must also attach a Certificate of Good Standing from a Regular Masonic Lodge.

GENERAL GRAND CHAPTER BREAKFAST:  Sunrise in Tulsa Breakfast”, honoring our PMWGP and GGCCM’s will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at 7:00 a.m. at the Doubletree Hotel.  Cost:  $25.00.  For tickets, send self-addressed, stamped envelope to Mrs. Linda Lamkin, PGM, 293 Bear Creek Road, Ruston, LA  71270.

Brother Harles I. Creech, P.M.W.G.P., and G.G.C.C.M.’s, Sisters Audrey Barker, Jane McDaniel, Jean Smith and Brothers Gwayne Denham and James Premeaux will be honored at General Grand Chapter.  If you and your chapter wish to participate in a voluntary love gift to these Louisiana members, please send your contribution to the Grand Secretary.

Our Golden Chain was broken once again by the death of Sister Ruth Keen, PGM.  Our sympathy goes out to her family, and her Chapter - Fern Leaf #24.

                                                                                                Fraternally,

                                                                                                Mary Howell
