From the Desk of the Worthy Grand Matron:

Dear Sisters and Brothers,

Louisiana won the highest percentage trophy at Multi-State in Vicksburg, Mississippi.  This is the first time Louisiana has won the trophy!  Thank you, thank you, Louisiana members, you are the ones that won the trophy!  We had 62 members present.  Brother Oscar and I were very honored to receive it for you.

Congratulations to Magi No. 85 on the celebration of their 100th Birthday.  This was a very special occasion.  Sister Linda Lamkin, PGM, did an outstanding job on the history of the Chapter.  This Chapter was formed in 1911 and has survived all these years.  Isn't that wonderful?

August is going to be a very busy month with Texas Grand Chapter and the continued Official Visits.  Thanks to all of you for your constant support and attendance at our Official Visits.

The Louisiana/Mississippi Friendship Exchange is in Ferriday, August 19th, with Sister Joye Denny, PGM, as Chairman.  Get your tickets from Sister Fran Slay, PM, Grand Treasurer.  Bring a tea cup and saucer to exchange with a Sister or Brother of Mississippi.

August 31, 1818, was the birthday of Dr. Rob Morris, the founder of The Order of the Eastern Star.  Everyone should read about him in the front of your Ritual.  Quoting from the Ritual …"Dr. Morris was generous, tender of heart and loving in disposition.  He was happiest when sharing with others that which the Lord had bestowed upon him."

Pack up and let's go to the International Peace Garden - Triennial Pilgrimage, August 12 - 14.  Contact Sister Terrie Castay, PGM, Grand Secretary, for more information.

DDGM's will be collecting 10 gifts from each Chapter in their District for the Distinguished Guests, Hospitality Room.  We ask that these articles be delivered on Saturday or Sunday prior to Grand Chapter or given to Lynn Palmer, Grand Adah.

Please do not forget our trip to the Holy Land.  You still have time to sign up!

Keep Sister Mary and Brother Eldon Howell, PGM and PGP, in your prayers because of their loss.  Continually pray for all members of OES, their families, our military, and our government.

"In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths."  Proverbs 3:6 (KJ)

Fraternally with love,

Joy Beth Williams
