From the Desk of the Worthy Grand Matron:

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

Fall is in the air, and as we look forward to this Thanksgiving season I count my blessings for each and every one of you, who have been so faithful to the Order of the Eastern Star.  As a young child, I always looked forward to Thanksgiving Dinner at Grandma’s house.  When the blessing was said, she always shared that she was thankful for her family.  I always wondered if she knew how thankful we were for her.  Take the time to let your loved ones know how thankful you are for them.

We had an extremely busy October and, at this writing, we will be headed to General Grand Chapter.  A number of Louisiana members are attending and we are looking forward to the excitement and fun we will have there.

This past month included four Wonderful Official Visits and five Delightful Courtesy Visits.  Richard and I thank you for your continued love and support.  We were thrilled to have a group of ten members attending Alabama Grand Chapter.  I understand a few made their way up to Oklahoma Grand Chapter.

The Cancer Survivor’s Banquet was a special occasion that touched the hearts of all who attended.  Through your generous donations, we raised over $1,100.00 for Cancer Services.  I know that everyone has been affected by this disease at some time in their life.  Thank you for the support you are giving this project and the loving kindness you show to the survivor’s that you personally know.

We are looking forward to our three last Official Visits this month.  We hope you will join us for the completion of a wonderful trip around the state.

We have one more “Fraternal Relations Day” which will be held in Baton Rouge.  If you haven’t had a chance to attend one of these functions, please join us.  That day is also Veteran’s Day, and we will have an opportunity to say “Thank You” to those who have served our country.

Reports are coming in from all over the state of the success you are having with your projects and the petitions being handed out.  We have plenty of year left, so if you’ve meet your goals, it’s now time to go “Above and Beyond.”

Remember to “Keep a Song in your Heart and a Smile on your Face”

                                                                                Fraternally,

                                                                                Jane McDaniel

ELECTION TIME REMINDER

Legislation was adopted at last Grand Chapter Session regarding dual members holding elected offices in two chapters.  The Grand Chapter General Regulations, Chapter Two, Article 16, Section 3(i) reads:

“A dual member may simultaneously hold office in a chapter of which she or he is a primary or dual member, provided, that she or he shall not simultaneously serve as Worthy Matron, Worthy Patron, Associate Matron, or Associate Patron in more than one Chapter, nor hold more than one office in the same Chapter.  A dual member may represent only one Chapter at a Grand Chapter Session.”
