FROM THE DESK OF THE WORTHY GRAND MATRON:

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

What an exciting and busy September we have had.  The Louisiana/Mississippi Exchange of golf, games, boat rides, food and entertainment was great FUN!!  We have enjoyed five Outstanding Official Visits and six Fabulous Courtesy Visits.  The Fraternal Relations Day for the Northern Section in Monroe was attended by more than 100 people and netted $1091 for our Youth Groups.  Thank you all for all the hard work you did to make each of these events a great success. October proves to be a full schedule.  Please check our calendar and join us for great fraternal fellowship.

October has been designated to give our silver drills to DeMolay. I was very impressed with the renewed interest by leaders and young men at Conclave.  Thank you for making a contribution to the rejuvenation of this order.  Reports from all over the state are coming in of the excitement in meeting your goals and trying new things in your chapters.  I applaud you for the extra effort that each of you make to make the order a better organization.  Remember that “Success is a ladder that cannot be climbed with your hands in your pockets.”

When taking your obligation at the altar, you made a commitment to the Order of the Eastern Star and your Sister and Brothers.  We often revisit that commitment and find that it is not always easy to keep.  This commitment should span the distance, not just over the good times, but over the hard times and the times we are tempted to give up.  Commitment may sometimes seem like a narrow, undesirable bridge, but with the knowledge that each of us “Makes a Difference,” we should pass to the other side where all our dreams can come true.

Grandma believed in the Golden Rule, “Do Unto Others, As You Would Have Them Do Unto You!”

Remember to “Keep a song in your heart and a smile on your face”

                                                                                Fraternally,

                                                                                Jane McDaniel

                                                                                Worthy Grand Matron
