October  2007 - Newsletter

********************************************************************************************************************************************

Dear Sisters and Brothers,

The month of September was a busy but a fun-filled month.  We attended six Official Visits; all of which were so beautiful in so many ways; especially having 100 plus wonderful members to be with us and the Grand Family at each.  We all appreciate your dedication to our wonderful Order and appreciate your presence.  The District Deputy Grand Matrons are working so very hard and they are to be commended, along with all their wonderful workers, for the outstanding visits we are having.  Working together as a “team” is extremely important and rewarding to all.

Our Courtesy Visits have also been very well attended with wonderful fellowship, food, laughs, hugs and many smiles.  We are grateful for the many courtesies extended to us on these special visits.

The Arkansas/Louisiana Exchange Visit was a joyous occasion for all who attended.  This year it was held on the Arkansas side and I do believe everyone made a new friend while exchanging their “tea cup and saucer” with one another.  We are still awaiting the final count to find out who has won the “boot trophy”.

We are looking forward to our Masonic Relations Day, for the Central Section of the State, to be held on September 29th in Alexandria.  A report to follow in the next monthly newsletter.

Brother Roy and I, along with all the Grand Officers, hope to see you this month during our many miles of smiles while traveling in and out of the state.

A little “happy” for you:  A hug is a great gift – one size fits all.  It can be given for any occasion and it’s easy to exchange.

Star Love & Miles of Smiles,

                                                                            Diane Smith

                                                                            Worthy Grand Matron

APPRECIATION

I would like to express my gratitude to all of you, for the many cards and phone calls I received recently, because of my illness.  I will never forget your thoughtful expressions of love and concern.  I am feeling 100% better, thanks to all of you.

Fraternal love,  Mert Mestler, AGP

Through the courtesy of the Worthy Grand Matron, Sister Diane Smith, I would like to thank each and every member who lifted my name to our Heavenly Father during my recent illness and hospitalization.  I am at home now in the care of my daughters and know that as soon as I am able, I will be back with you to finish this year of service in our Order.  The cards, phone calls, and visits were most appreciated, but it was the prayers that got me and my family through this trial.  God bless you all.  Fraternally, Joe Cox, Grand Warder.

Cancer – “Smiles Cure” Project

In the event your Chapter has “clown pins” that have not been sold for the Cancer Project, please return them to your chapter secretary who will forward them to the State Chairman.  Many of the larger chapters are asking for additional pins.
